How to Enjoy Your Company While Working/Studying From Home

Finding ways to enjoy our own company might sound unworkable especially with most us being “stuck” at home since the onset of the pandemic. It doesn’t mean that it can’t be done though.

An ideal “me” time may differ from person to person. It usually depends on one’s personality, hobbies, and interests.

If you are looking for ideas on how to relax, refresh, and recharge even at the comfort of your own home, here are suggestions you can try:

Set your phone aside, and pick up your favorite book.

This one is an activity every book lover will surely enjoy. You can turn off your phone notifications to avoid distractions, play your favorite music (either jazz, classical or acoustic), and pick up your favorite book from the shelf. A cozy corner and a good cup of coffee can be your cherries-on-top to this “me” time.

Stream that movie you’ve been wanting to watch on Netflix.

If you enjoy the thrill a good movie or series brings, then streaming one on Netflix (or any streaming site) is the perfect “me” time for you. Curl up with your comfy bed, bring your favorite snacks, and watch a movie or series based on your liking. If you’re still unsure what to stream, you can start with comedy genres to fit the relaxing and light mood you deserve for your alone time.

Pick up a paintbrush and make art.

Some of you may be thinking “But I’m not artistic”. Good thing this activity is not just for those who know their way around paintbrushes and watercolors. Painting is proven to promote stress relief and helps stimulate creativity. It’s an ideal activity for those who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of work. Pick a canvas of your liking and some art materials, and find relaxation and solitude in doing art.

Try a new recipe.

This might just be the perfect activity for you if you enjoy exploring new things (especially cooking). Scroll through recipes and find something you want to try. Shop for ingredients or check your pantry what you can use for cooking. Once you’re all done, plate it nicely and enjoy it. Who knows, you may just be a step away from learning your own specialty dish.

Rearrange or redecorate your room.

You can spend your “me” time by rearranging or redecorating your room. More than the relaxing vibe a newly organized or redecorated room brings, the process of decluttering your space may pretty much equal decluttering your mind. You get rid of items you can’t use anymore, give away what you can, and find items which you even use again.

These are only a few ideas for spending your precious “me” time in the comfort of your home. At the end of the day, what matters most is how you delight in your personal company however way you wish to spend it 🙂
